Design Engineer III – Optical

📋 Description

• Accountable for the design planning, creation of records, and order fulfillment of Zayo’s products across all Market Areas, with a primary emphasis on the design of Zayo’s growth products.

• A foundational understanding of network QOS, IP routing, Ethernet switching (covering 802.11q, 802.11p, 802.3af), and tagging mechanisms for packets and waves.

• Collaborate with Service Activation and Field Technicians when challenges arise during pre-build and customer activation activities.

• The Design & Implementation Engineer III is tasked with designing intricate circuits to connect with other carriers or customer solutions.

• Evaluates orders for technical accuracy and addresses any design-related concerns back to the relevant departments.

• Monitors assigned orders to guarantee they are being coordinated promptly.

• Manages workload effectively to identify critical issues and prioritize tasks that require immediate attention.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education, training, and/or experience.

• At least five (5) years of experience in telecommunications and/or data networking, including a minimum of three (3) years in design engineering provisioning.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Practical knowledge of routers and other data equipment.

• Intermediate understanding of Data Networking and telecommunications, including a grasp of basic bandwidth and services: EoTDM, EoC, EoF, third-party transport, long haul through our own Network, Ethernet, TCP/IP.

• Familiarity with Routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.

• Knowledge of products including ELINE, ELAN, Private Line, Dedicated Internet, MPLS, and Cloud Services.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Google programs, and project management software.

• Capable of applying logical thinking principles to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in controlled environments.
