Design Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Serve as the main point of contact between the project team and the design team.

• Ensure that design contributions align with project schedules and goals.

• Assist in the creation and management of design timelines, guaranteeing the timely and budget-compliant delivery of designs.

• Collaborate with relevant teams to monitor progress and mitigate potential delays.

• Consistently communicate with stakeholders (clients, contractors, project managers, regulatory bodies) to provide updates on design progress and requirements.

• Address and oversee any client requests or modifications related to design.

• Prepare and deliver regular design status updates to the project manager and other stakeholders.

• Proactively identify design-related challenges and work alongside all design discipline teams (Mechanical, Electrical, EC&I, Civil & specialists) to devise solutions.

• Promptly escalate critical design issues to the project manager or senior design leaders.

• Ensure proper coordination of design efforts among all designers across disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, EC&I, Civil, specialists, and contractors.

• Fulfill the role of Principal Designer in accordance with CDM (Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015).

• Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety throughout the pre-construction and design phases, ensuring that significant and foreseeable risks are identified and effectively managed.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in design coordination, project management, or a similar role within the Energy/Building Services sector.

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, EC&I, Civil).

• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, including CDM Regulations 2015, Designer Risk Assessments, and Building Regulations.

• Capability to act as Principal Designer and oversee safety during the pre-construction and design phases.

• Excellent skills in stakeholder management and communication.

• Preferred proficiency in design software such as BIM.

• Specialized knowledge of HAZID & HAZOP processes, P&IDs, process calculations, and low carbon energy solutions across commercial, industrial, NHS, and district heating projects.

• Membership in professional institutions or bodies with a record of ongoing professional development (CPD).
