Deputy Editor, Medicine

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement strategic initiatives aimed at expanding Wiley's Advanced Portfolio in the field of medicine on a global scale.

• Commission exceptional papers and cultivate collaborative relationships with leading researchers through active community engagement.

• Oversee the peer review process and make decisions on manuscripts to maintain the highest editorial standards.

• Work alongside the global editorial team to manage submissions from related Advanced titles.

• Assist in the launch and oversight of new Advanced spin-off titles in pertinent subject areas as the brand continues to grow.

• Collaborate with a team of in-house editors to shape strategies within the medical cluster.

• Work closely with marketing teams to design and execute events and initiatives that enhance the brand.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in any medical specialty is required.

• Preference for candidates with post-doctoral and clinical experience.

• Proven experience in commissioning, including identifying key topics, reaching out to potential authors, and guiding them through the submission process.

• Experience in manuscript handling, including prescreening, peer review, final decisions, appeals, and integrity cases.

• Strong global network within research communities and a proven record of engaging with top-tier research talents.

• High levels of integrity and honesty are essential.

• Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel internationally.
