Deputy Chief Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Support the Chief Engineer in the execution, scaling, and everyday advancement of enterprise-wide CI/CD pipelines.

• Assess, prototype, and integrate innovative DevSecOps tools, automated security scanning, and container hardening methods to enhance the Cloud One ecosystem.

• Develop and sustain intricate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) scripts customized for DoD Impact Levels (IL) 2, 4, 5, and 6.

• Aid the Chief Engineer in evaluating cloud configurations across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI to ensure they align with security and resilience objectives.

• Contribute to the integration of automated configuration monitoring and continuous Authorization to Operate (cATO) strategies into the delivery pipeline to fulfill RMF and STIG requirements.

• Act as a hands-on mentor for cross-functional DevOps and engineering teams, translating the Chief Engineer's overarching strategy into technical implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, along with 12+ years of relevant technical experience.

• An active DoD Secret Clearance is mandatory.

• At least 5 years of experience providing technical guidance or leading software, cloud, or systems engineering teams in high-level defense programs.

• Advanced expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) tools, particularly Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab Runners.

• In-depth understanding of CI/CD pipeline processes, architecture, and execution, with a proven track record of defining and enforcing best practices within organizations.

• Extensive knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and secure containerization standards.

• Significant experience with RMF processes, STIG enforcement, and managing system architectures in secure multi-enclave environments.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
