Defense Engines AI Transformation Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire lifecycle for various interrelated data, analytics, and AI products that encompass planning, forecasting, and production within the DES delivery transformation initiative.

• Act as the customer representative in making decisions regarding scope and sequencing trade-offs.

• Develop and uphold the DES data and analytics product roadmap.

• Identify and engage stakeholders necessary to support the roadmap.

• Create and maintain self-service data and analytics for manufacturing, quality, and delivery data.

• Operationalize and continuously derive value from investments in advanced analytics and agentic AI.

• Collaborate with central DT and Enterprise Data to promote data fabric and ontology adoption.

• Transform AI-enabled concepts into functional software and prototypes utilizing real production data.

• Integrate with operators, planners, and engineers at the Genba to enhance capabilities collaboratively.

• Utilize rapid prototyping within Daily Management to address gaps in KPIs and TTI.

• Define value cases based on delivery metrics and report results against the 2026 DES benchmarks.

• Influence Executive Band leaders to align Digital Technology expenditures with value-stream priorities.

• Establish data and AI standards throughout the DES horizontal.

• Provide mentorship to product managers and engineers on systems thinking and experimental product practices.

• Oversee supplier and contractor partnerships involved in delivering analytics and AI initiatives.

• Direct risk management efforts concerning export control, cybersecurity, data governance, and responsible AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with at least 10 years of professional experience, OR an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 13 years of professional experience, OR a High School Diploma with at least 15 years of professional experience.

• At least 8 years of professional experience in IT.

• Military experience is considered equivalent to professional experience.

• Willingness to travel 10–50% as needed.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is currently not available.

• Capability to demonstrate U.S. Person status for accessing U.S. export-controlled information: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or recognized as an asylee/refugee.

• Practical experience in creating data pipelines, ontology and semantic models, notebooks, agent workflows, and functional user interfaces.

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, or a comparable programming language.

• Ability to progress ideas from proof of concept through medium- and high-fidelity prototypes.

• Experience managing data platforms and advanced analytics products at scale, including ingestion, modeling, governance, performance, and self-service access.

• Working knowledge of machine learning, large language models, retrieval, and agentic patterns.

• Familiarity with manufacturing and MRO data and systems, including MES, ERP, quality, and shop-floor technologies.

• Possess technology, process, and domain expertise to impact product design.

• Proven track record of staying abreast of current and emerging technologies through training, job experience, or industry involvement.

• Understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and comfort operating within a Daily Management framework.
