This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Accountable for the design, operation, and ongoing enhancement of the Arista-based leaf-spine network fabric, ensuring high availability, performance, and security within our data center environments.
• Design, implement, and operate Arista leaf-spine architectures that support large-scale, high-availability environments.
• Oversee daily operations of the data center network, guaranteeing optimal performance, resiliency, and uptime.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Arista switches utilizing EOS and CloudVision (CVP).
• Support and optimize EVPN/VXLAN-based overlay networks as well as BGP underlay routing.
• Consistently enhance network performance, latency, and traffic flow across the fabric.
• Develop and implement strategies for hardware and software upgrades across Arista, Cisco, and Palo Alto platforms.
• Conduct impact analysis, risk assessments, and validation testing for network modifications.
• Create comprehensive implementation and rollback plans to ensure safe execution.
• Implement and manage data center security measures using Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Design and enforce policies for segmentation, access control, and threat prevention.
• Collaborate with security teams to align with enterprise security architecture and compliance standards.
• Work in partnership with Systems Engineering, Database, Platform Engineering, and Security teams to support application and infrastructure requirements.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and design reviews for new projects.
• Assist in troubleshooting across various infrastructure layers including network, compute, storage, and applications.
• Enhance network monitoring, alerting, and observability capabilities.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities utilizing tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Maintain precise documentation of network architecture, standards, and operational procedures.
• 5–7+ years of experience in data center network engineering.
• 3+ years of practical experience managing Arista-based network fabrics.
• Proven experience in designing and operating leaf-spine architectures in production settings.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and/or Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience supporting mission-critical applications within enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated capability to conduct impact analysis and safely execute network changes.
• Experience deploying and operating EVPN/VXLAN at scale (preferred).
• Familiarity with CloudVision (CVP) for automation and network management (preferred).
• Experience with network automation and infrastructure as code (Python, Ansible, Terraform) (preferred).
• Exposure to cloud-integrated networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP connectivity) (preferred).
• Knowledge of zero trust or micro-segmentation architectures (preferred).
• Industry certifications such as Arista ACE (Arista Certified Engineer), CCNP, or CCIE (Cisco), and Palo Alto PCNSE (preferred).
