Database Migration Consultant – Staff

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Design, maintain, and enhance database objects utilizing Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and PostgreSQL.

• Transform and adjust SQL Server database code for compatibility with PostgreSQL.

• Create and manage stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.

• Conduct functional, integration, and performance testing for migrated database objects.

• Evaluate and address T-SQL to PostgreSQL syntax variances and compatibility challenges.

• Review and resolve issues identified in AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) assessment reports.

• Verify migrated data and assist with database migration testing efforts.

• Work collaboratively with development and project teams to facilitate database modernization and migration projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in SQL development.

• Proficient hands-on experience with: Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and Views; PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL; SQL Server to PostgreSQL code transformation and adjustment; functional and performance testing of database objects; familiarity with T-SQL to PostgreSQL dialect conversion (e.g., TOP/LIMIT, ISNULL/COALESCE, GETDATE()/NOW(), temporary tables, identity vs. sequences); AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) assessment reports and remediation; data validation and migration testing; and experience in supporting database modernization or migration projects.

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).

• Experience with SSIS/SSRS remediation or migration.

• Experience with AWS services and SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration initiatives.

• Knowledge of AWS Glue and contemporary ETL migration concepts.
