Database Engineer V

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Collect information from current systems and evaluate program, business, and timing needs for intricate data warehouse projects.

• Offer technical expertise on sophisticated database, data warehouse, and systems analysis issues.

• Create comprehensive specifications, design logic, pseudo code, and documentation that supports design, development, testing, and implementation.

• Perform gap and impact analyses for modifications in source systems, updates to requirements, and data transformation logic.

• Direct data analysis and database design, encompassing both logical and physical relational and dimensional data models.

• Establish and sustain source-to-target mappings, transformation guidelines, BI object definitions, and data quality standards.

• Examine intricate ETL mappings and AWS Glue data flows.

• Oversee metadata across ERwin, Oracle, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, and MicroStrategy environments.

• Generate, revise, and uphold DDL scripts and database structures for Oracle and Amazon Redshift.

• Compose complex SQL queries to analyze extensive datasets across various formats and sources.

• Optimize database performance and suggest enhancements.

• Assess opportunities for multi-data-mart integration and propose solutions.

• Conduct peer reviews, code evaluations, and design assessments, while validating testing methodologies.

• Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure timely delivery of milestones and outcomes.

• Uphold data architecture standards, technical specifications, operating instructions, and SDLC documentation.

• Safeguard CMS, Buyer, and program data in accordance with security, privacy, and confidentiality regulations.

• Work remotely during Eastern Time business hours; occasional travel may be necessary, not exceeding 5% annually.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; four years of additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.

• Over 10 years of comprehensive professional experience in database engineering, database design, data warehousing, systems analysis, data architecture, or related technical delivery.

• At least 7 years of systems analysis experience within a data warehouse setting.

• Minimum of 3 years of recent hands-on experience in architecting data warehouse solutions.

• Proficient in complex SQL query development and analysis of large, multi-format datasets.

• Expertise in logical and physical data modeling, including relational and dimensional models.

• Experience in database design, DDL scripting, and updates to database structures in Oracle and/or Amazon Redshift.

• Knowledge of data warehouse architecture, source-to-target mapping, transformation logic, and metadata management.

• Familiarity with AWS Glue ETL flow analysis and data movement principles.

• Proficient in ERwin or similar data modeling tools.

• Experience with MicroStrategy 2019 or higher, BI objects, reporting metadata, dashboards, or related BI environments.

• Skills in database performance tuning, data quality standards, and data architecture documentation.

• Understanding of SDLC processes, technical documentation, requirements analysis, peer/code reviews, and quality assurance methodologies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

• Capability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Federal suitability/Public Trust adjudication.
