This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and enhance database architecture, constructing schemas, tables, stored procedures, and managing access permissions.
• Produce queries and reports utilizing PostgreSQL tools like pgAdmin, psql, and third-party applications such as DataGrip.
• Develop queries that can be utilized by the development team.
• Evaluate, sustain, and optimize the PostgreSQL/Microsoft SQL database environment to guarantee 99.9% uptime and data integrity.
• Detect and resolve performance bottlenecks, refine SQL queries, and improve data retrieval efficiency for both PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL.
• Oversee, enhance, and interact with Legacy databases and Platform as a Service databases.
• Offer insights on policies, procedures, and new technologies.
• Monitor systems for uptime, supervise database mirroring, replication, and failover processes.
• Support advanced PostgreSQL features, including JSON, full-text search, and PostGIS for geospatial queries.
• Establish, populate, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, materialized views, and indexes for analysis and reporting purposes.
• Restore PostgreSQL databases from backups and assist in disaster recovery efforts using WAL archiving and point-in-time recovery.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and IT teams to design, implement, and resolve PostgreSQL database challenges.
• Evaluate future storage and performance requirements, and create and maintain thorough PostgreSQL documentation.
• Work with pre-built databases in Platform as a Service to optimize and manage as required for expanding solutions.
• Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and technical experts.
• Contribute to team goals and accept additional responsibilities as necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
• Strong expertise in database administration and performance optimization.
• Extensive practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, covering infrastructure design, deployment, and management.
• Proficient in automation tools and scripting languages for infrastructure and database administration (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Python).
• Experience in crafting strategies for data migration, backup, and disaster recovery within cloud environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and tools for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, capable of working across various teams and departments.
