Data Systems Operations Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of all runtime requirements for Pyth Pro, including monitoring, provisioning, risk metrics, and SLA management.

• Set service targets for each iteration and track improvements and risk mitigation efforts.

• Articulate detailed requirements that facilitate the automation of feed provisioning and reviews.

• Ensure that all feeds comply with quality standards and institutional guidelines.

• Research and spearhead the implementation of automation opportunities related to price feeds.

• Recognize repetitive operational tasks and identify chances for systematic automation to minimize toil and human error.

• Actively identify system vulnerabilities and risks; propose and advocate for effective solutions.

• Adopt a strategic mindset—anticipate potential failure modes and design for resilience.

• In the event of incidents, lead data forensics and assess user impact.

• Work on solutions that significantly reduce recurrence and promote both tactical and strategic resolutions.

• Make critical decisions during incidents.

• Own the requirements and success metrics for preventing incidents.

• Cultivate relationships with institutional users and data providers to ensure their needs are fully understood.

• Internally advocate for operational enhancements.

• Prioritize user satisfaction by focusing on problem identification and resolution.

• Balance practical execution with strategic thinking aimed at long-term improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in technical engineering operations, data systems engineering, or technical project management for distributed systems.

• A proven history of managing mission-critical systems, with experience in incident management and on-call operations.

• In-depth knowledge of data systems and distributed infrastructure.

• Familiarity with financial markets, market data, or real-time systems.

• Experience at tier-1 financial institutions (such as exchanges or prime brokers), crypto exchanges, or infrastructure providers.

• Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both engineers and C-suite executives.

• Nice to Have: Experience in cryptocurrency or blockchain infrastructure operations, DevOps, SRE, or large-scale infrastructure engineering, background in market data systems or oracle infrastructure, security or risk management experience, success in migrating institutional workflows to new systems, and relationships with exchanges, market makers, or trading desks.
