Data Scientist, Forecasting – Energy Storage System Optimization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and launch machine learning models and statistical analyses to enhance the performance of energy storage and solar assets within Stem's portfolio.

• Design and construct data pipelines to extract, transform, and analyze extensive datasets from energy systems.

• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and energy specialists to incorporate data-driven solutions into the PowerTrack platforms.

• Generate data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to convey insights and recommendations to stakeholders.

• Perform exploratory data analysis to discover trends, patterns, and opportunities for enhancing system performance and business results.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in data science, analytics, machine learning, or a related field.

• A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Proficiency in Python along with data science libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

• Familiarity with optimization libraries (e.g., CVXPY) and experience in formulating or interpreting constrained optimization problems.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets utilizing SQL or SQL-like query languages.

• Comfortable utilizing modern AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to expedite development.

• Experience in writing well-documented, thoroughly tested, and maintainable code.

• Proficient in version control with Git and experience using platforms like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.

• Experience prototyping analyses in Jupyter notebooks and building lightweight data applications to explore and communicate insights, utilizing tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, and frameworks like Streamlit or Dash.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with expertise in statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings for diverse audiences.
