Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish best practices for instrumentation and experimentation, effectively communicating them to product engineering teams to support our mission of inspiring individuals to create a life they love.

• Apply scientific rigor and statistical techniques to tackle the challenges associated with product creation, development, and improvement, while considering the behaviors of our Pinners.

• Construct and refine analysis pipelines iteratively to deliver insights at scale, while gaining a thorough understanding of data structures and metrics, and advocating for necessary changes to enhance product development.

• Collaborate across various functions to build and convey essential insights, working closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and researchers to contribute to the next experiences on Pinterest.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis within a fast-paced, data-driven setting, demonstrating the ability to utilize scientific methods to address real-world challenges on web-scale data.

• Significant experience in resolving analytical issues through quantitative methods, particularly in areas such as Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, Econometrics, or related fields.

• Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning frameworks, including PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.

• A scientifically rigorous approach to data analysis, complemented by a keen sense of skepticism, attention to detail, and a dedication to producing high-quality, results-focused outcomes.

• Capability to manage large datasets with high dimensionality and complexity; fluent in SQL (or other database languages) and a scripting language such as Python or R.

• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• A collaborative team player who can work with cross-functional leadership to swiftly translate insights into actionable steps.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
