This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
β’ Tackle vague and open-ended challenges (e.g. "enhance target coverage in this risk domain" or "lower the false positive rate for this classifier") by independently devising an approach, constructing it, and iterating towards an effective solution.
β’ Design, construct, and sustain data pipelines and ML models that identify, detect, and quantify risk intelligence across various domains including financial, cyber, operational, ESG, and compliance.
β’ Prepare, cleanse, and organize large and often complex datasets for modeling, applying judgment to determine the most suitable methods for automation, direct data integration, or LLM-based strategies.
β’ Develop and continuously enhance predictive and classification models (e.g. credibility scoring, urgency/severity classification, entity resolution), assessing performance against actual outcomes and iterating based on data-driven insights.
β’ Collaborate directly with product, engineering, and occasionally customer-facing stakeholders to translate business and methodological inquiries (e.g. model bias, data confidence, coverage limitations) into clear technical responses and solutions.
β’ Utilize Python and standard data science/ML libraries along with robust database and querying skills to seamlessly transition from data preparation to modeling and production.
β’ Actively assess and integrate new tools and techniques, including AI-assisted workflows, to enhance your own output instead of reverting to manual or traditional methods.
β’ Clearly document your methodology, code, and data schemas so that colleagues and stakeholders can build upon your work.
β’ 3-5 years of experience in practical data science, machine learning, or a closely related technical position.
β’ Proficient in Python across the data science and ML stack (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar).
β’ Strong understanding of database and data engineering principles β capable of designing schemas, writing efficient queries, and building dependable pipelines, rather than merely consuming clean data.
β’ Experience in deploying models into production and tracking their performance, rather than just constructing them in a notebook.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; skilled at conveying technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow through on tasks without prompting.
β’ Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ Nice to have: Familiarity with REST API design and development (Django Rest Framework or similar).
β’ Health insurance
β’ Professional development opportunities
