Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee infrastructure and pipelines, address issues, and diagnose failures using logs and metrics.

• Develop, assess, and implement infrastructure via code with Terraform, AWS, and Kubernetes.

• Create automation using Python, bash, and CI/CD practices.

• Assist in the design and management of role-based access control and governance measures.

• Construct, manage, and troubleshoot data pipelines and transformations.

• Facilitate the transition of workloads from our legacy systems to the contemporary data platform.

• Produce clear runbooks, platform documentation, and operational manuals.

• Collaborate with AI-driven engineering tools to enhance engineering processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years in data engineering, software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or a similar technical position.

• Practical experience managing workloads in AWS or another leading cloud service provider.

• Expertise in Python for automation, internal tools, platform workflows, or data engineering assistance.

• Familiarity with SQL; advanced SQL knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Practical experience with Terraform or an equivalent infrastructure-as-code solution.

• Proficient in utilizing Git-based development workflows.

• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and containerized deployments.

• Adept at using logs, metrics, and alerts to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems.

• Knowledge of RBAC, IAM, least-privilege access, or governance controls.

• Strong attention to detail, inquisitiveness, sound judgment, and a desire to learn.

• Experience collaborating with vendor support, managing production incidents, and following through on operational tasks.

• Openness to participate in on-call and after-hours support as required.

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to work efficiently within a remote-first team.
