Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create designs for logging, metrics, and tracing patterns that are essential for the entire engineering organization.

• Minimize manual work, highlight actionable insights, and transform disorder into clarity.

• Serve as an individual contributor reporting directly to the Head of Platform Engineering.

• Design and implement a contemporary observability stack.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, or a related infrastructure role.

• Profound knowledge in at least one observability area such as metrics, logging, tracing, or Application Performance Management (APM).

• Familiarity with agent configuration and instrumentation tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar).

• Proven history of building monitoring and alerting systems rather than merely maintaining them.

• Ability to make decisive architectural choices even with incomplete data.

• Strong systems thinking capabilities—able to understand the trade-offs between managed and open-source solutions, as well as complexity and coverage.

• Experience with AWS and containerized environments (EKS, Docker).

• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Understanding of Kafka or asynchronous message queues, particularly in the context of log/metric pipeline architecture.

• Experience with RDS, including database monitoring and slow query logs.

• Familiarity with open-source observability stacks such as Prometheus, ELK, Grafana, and Jaeger.
