This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Gather, manage, and sustain data related to preserve-based infrastructure.
• Offer technical assistance in ArcGIS and relational database technologies to Conservancy personnel.
• Collaborate with state staff to obtain existing data and collect new infrastructure information at prioritized preserves.
• Execute field assessments for infrastructure and accessibility for around 150 preserves.
• Conduct data analysis, complex queries, spatial and relational data processing, and generate professional reports.
• Provide support for hardware and software issues.
• Design and implement training sessions for individual staff and groups.
• Create maps, graphic products, dashboards, and reports.
• Develop and uphold libraries for GIS and/or database products.
• Compile, organize, and maintain information on land protection, biodiversity, and management.
• Review points, lines, and polygons in TNC’s Land Asset Management system to ensure the quality and accuracy of data.
• Assist in creating state-level dashboards and reports for best practices in recreational trails, accessibility guidelines, and visitor activation strategies.
• Work alongside preserve-based staff, volunteers, state-level personnel, and community partners.
• Travel within the United States up to 30% of the time and navigate rugged terrain as required.
• MS or BS degree with certification in a relevant field and 3 years of related experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in managing, maintaining, and populating databases and manual files.
• Background in image interpretation, complex spatial analysis, data modeling, and landscape scenario analysis.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in operating GIS software, analyzing data, generating data reports, and creating maps.
• Ability to interpret findings and provide training to practitioners when necessary.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and web browsers.
• Desired experience with the Universal Trail Assessment Process (UTAP) or Highly Efficient Trail Assessment Process (HETAP).
• Ability to understand and apply the Americans with Disabilities Act and Architectural Barriers Act Outdoor Developed Area Accessibility Guidelines is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Adherence to TNC’s Auto Safety Program.
• Capability to navigate rugged terrain, including sandy beaches, roots, rocks, and slopes exceeding 25%.
• Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
• Ability to coordinate field-based site visits with state-level staff and community partners.
