Data Engineering Manager – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee the strategic backlog of the data platform with a focus on a Data-Platform-as-a-Product approach.

• Engage with internal users to eliminate obstacles and enhance Time-to-Analysis.

• Drive the advancement of the Lakehouse architecture and promote the use of open formats like Apache Iceberg.

• Automate Federated Computational Governance in the context of Data Mesh through coding.

• Establish policies for access, quality, and data protection in compliance with LGPD.

• Ensure the application of Data Contracts (ODCS) and observability tools during the creation of Data Products.

• Improve the developer experience for partner teams through Self-Service solutions.

• Remove dependencies on operational tickets for infrastructure provisioning or Airflow workflows.

• Manage the platform budget utilizing advanced FinOps and Unit Economics practices.

• Cultivate the team's talent density by focusing on recruitment, development plans, and conducting blameless post-mortems.

• Guarantee resilience and focus on avoiding incidents in production.

• Negotiate prioritization with Heads of Product and Operations, turning technical challenges into business value.

• Assess the impact of platform modifications on analytical models and business products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing data engineering or platform engineering teams in rapidly growing, complex environments.

• Solid technical foundation in modern data architectures.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.

• Practical experience in implementing Data Mesh.

• Understanding of code-driven governance.

• Knowledge of data contracts.

• Experience with observability tools.

• Proven capability in advanced FinOps.

• Skill in translating technical infrastructure metrics into financial impact and cost-efficiency reports.

• Exceptional stakeholder management abilities.

• Competence in negotiating prioritization with Heads of Product and Operations.

• Aptitude for converting technical challenges into clear, actionable business value.
