Data Engineer, Pharmacy Data, SQL Server

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Medi-Span, NCPDP, NDCs, NPIs, and associated pharmacy claims and reference datasets.

• Design and establish secure ingestion pipelines utilizing SFTP, structured flat-file drops, and third-party data feeds.

• Enhance SQL Server performance by analyzing execution plans, improving query efficiency, and managing indexed/materialized view strategies.

• Work with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups to ensure dependable database operations.

• Implement validation rules, constraints, reconciliation, deduplication, schema monitoring, and exception handling for incoming third-party data.

• Develop monitoring systems to track data ingestion, freshness, failures, integrity, completeness, and processing performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with pharmacy claims, reference data, and industry identifiers, including Medi-Span, NCPDP, NDC, and NPI.

• Proficient in SQL Server and T-SQL development.

• Familiarity with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.

• Advanced skills in SQL performance tuning, execution-plan analysis, indexing, and query optimization.

• Experience in constructing reliable SFTP-based and flat-file ETL/ELT pipelines.

• Expertise in designing data quality frameworks, validation constraints, and monitoring for third-party feeds.

• Experience in creating operational dashboards, alerts, and observability for data pipelines.

• Strong understanding of data lineage, reconciliation, security, and production support.

• Preferred: Background in pharmacy rebate processing, PBMs, TPAs, or manufacturer reporting.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Python-based data engineering and automation.

• Preferred: Experience in handling PHI and HIPAA-regulated data.

• Preferred: Experience in integrating high-volume batch pipelines with near-real-time applications.

• Preferred: Availability for on-call rotations.
