Data Engineer Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of Data Engineers dedicated to data and ML infrastructure.

• Define and execute technical strategies for scalable cloud-based MLOps.

• Establish the engineering framework essential for supporting machine learning models throughout their lifecycle.

• Supervise the creation of data pipelines, ML infrastructure, deployment processes, monitoring, automation, and CI/CD.

• Collaborate with Data Science leadership to facilitate the efficient transition of models from development to production.

• Define engineering standards, best practices, and reusable approaches for ML and data engineering.

• Guide architectural and technical decisions concerning cloud data and ML infrastructure.

• Assist in laying the technical groundwork for future agentic architecture and AI initiatives.

• Assess technical strategies and technologies based on scalability, reliability, maintainability, and delivery requirements.

• Balance immediate delivery demands with long-term platform and architectural investments.

• Provide technical mentorship and direction to Senior Data Engineers.

• Collaborate with Data Science and other technical teams to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions.

• Clearly communicate technical decisions, risks, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders.

• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in Data Engineering.

• Strong practical experience with cloud MLOps.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring Data Engineering teams.

• Deep understanding of cloud data architecture and machine learning infrastructure.

• Experience in designing and implementing production-grade MLOps practices.

• Solid understanding of model deployment, monitoring, versioning, automation, and ML lifecycle management.

• Experience in making technical and architectural decisions for data and ML platforms.

• Strong engineering fundamentals and capability to engage in technical discussions with senior engineers.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to balance technical strategy with hands-on delivery and team leadership.

• Professional experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.

• Familiarity with agentic architectures or AI engineering is a plus.

• Experience in helping organizations establish the technical foundation for future AI initiatives is a plus.

• Experience closely collaborating with Data Science teams to operationalize machine learning models is a plus.

• Experience in defining long-term data and ML platform strategies is a plus.
