This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Take charge of the long-term design and architecture of the enterprise data ecosystem, encompassing ingestion, storage, modeling, lineage, governance, and analytics layers.
• Create scalable lakehouse, Delta Lake, and distributed data architectures that facilitate advanced analytics, operational workflows, and integration across various business domains.
• Spearhead enterprise-wide modernization initiatives, including warehouse migrations, redesigns of domain modeling, governance improvements, streaming adoption, and cross-cloud data integrations.
• Establish and uphold standards for data modeling, lineage, metadata, MDM, quality, security, and compliance across all data teams.
• Develop reusable architectural patterns, frameworks, orchestrations, and platform components that are utilized across engineering groups.
• Tackle the most challenging technical issues, such as distributed system bottlenecks, data quality challenges, lineage discrepancies, and multi-domain data reconciliation problems.
• Direct strategies for cost optimization related to compute, storage, and orchestration workloads throughout the data platform.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture, analytics, InfoSec, product, and application engineering to ensure coherence with organizational strategy.
• Shape leadership decisions concerning data strategy, platform investments, tooling, and sprint/roadmap priorities.
• Mentor senior engineers, conduct design reviews, and offer technical leadership across teams to elevate the overall engineering standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred).
• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or distributed systems engineering.
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms utilizing Lakehouse/Delta architectures.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, Spark, Python, Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory, and distributed processing.
• In-depth knowledge of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), governance frameworks, MDM, metadata catalogs, and lineage systems.
• Experience in leading multi-team engineering projects and influencing architectural decisions at the leadership level.
• Strong foundation in security, compliance, data privacy, and regulatory data management.
• Due to NERC regulations, U.S. Citizenship, Green Card Holders, or Permanent Residency is required for this role.
