Data Engineer Intern – 8 month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Support the engineering team in transitioning data assets from Amazon Redshift to Snowflake, ensuring both data integrity and performance.

• Collaborate closely with lead engineers to set up and configure the data infrastructure for the Insurance Business Unit.

• Develop and maintain data pipelines utilizing Airflow and dbt.

• Assist in producing clean, modular, and maintainable code by refining complex queries into efficient transformation layers.

• Work in partnership with engineering and business teams to comprehend requirements and provide data solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently participating in a post-secondary co-op program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.

• Strong foundational understanding of SQL and Python.

• Academic or project experience with dbt, Airflow, or Snowflake is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or GCP) and knowledge of data warehousing principles.

• Understanding of DevOps practices or NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB) is considered a significant advantage.
