Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, build, and sustain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and curate logistics, maintenance, and supply chain data from various USMC systems.

• Implement effective ETL/ELT workflows to support analytics, reporting, and data warehousing projects.

• Collaborate with data analysts, software developers, and system integrators to guarantee high-quality data delivery for both operational and strategic applications.

• Enhance database performance, manage data models, and ensure data accessibility and consistency across different environments.

• Partner with NIWC Atlantic and USMC stakeholders to convert logistics data requirements into technical implementations.

• Integrate data from key USMC logistics systems such as GCSSMC, TLS, and additional readiness and sustainment datasets.

• Ensure adherence to DoD cybersecurity, RMF, and data governance standards while designing and deploying solutions.

• Assist in the creation of dashboards, APIs, and analytics tools that enhance supply chain visibility and asset readiness.

• Diagnose data issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures to uphold data integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Practical experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.

• Expertise in modern ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline technologies (such as Python, Airflow, Spark, or similar).

• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD-specific cloud platforms).

• Capability to operate within Agile teams and collaborate with diverse technical and government stakeholders.

• Strong comprehension of data quality, integrity, and governance principles.

• Active DoD Secret Clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain one).
