Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Identify and define the company's data assets through data modeling.

• Create and design data integrations, establish data quality frameworks, and assess open source/vendor tools for data lineage.

• Collaborate closely with Dropbox's business units and engineering teams to formulate a strategy for a long-term Data Platform architecture that is efficient, reliable, and scalable.

• Conceptualize and take ownership of the data architecture for various large-scale projects while analyzing design and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs within systems.

• Work alongside engineers, product managers, and data scientists to comprehend data requirements, presenting key data insights in a meaningful manner.

• Design, develop, and launch sophisticated collections of data models and visualizations that cater to multiple use cases across different products or domains.

• Enhance pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to simplify the development of data artifacts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Spark, Python, Java, C++, or Scala development.

• More than 5 years of SQL experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in schema design, dimensional data modeling, and medallion architectures.

• Familiarity with the Databricks platform and data lake architectures for large-scale data processing and analytics.

• Strong strategic thinking and communication skills to influence product and cross-functional teams by identifying data opportunities that drive impact.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (such as physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems.
