Data Engineer, Active Secret Clearance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, deploy, and maintain data architectures and databases within the AWS GovCloud environment.

• Create, build, test, and sustain high-performance, scalable, and reliable data architectures.

• Transition data from on-premises databases to cloud-based solutions and transform data as needed.

• Develop and manage scalable data pipelines while creating new API integrations.

• Ensure that data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure.

• Implement and oversee databases and data delivery systems.

• Convert data into insights, analysis, and reporting.

• Identify, investigate, design, develop, and advocate for solutions that enhance the modern development environment.

• Execute data extraction, loading, and database synchronization ETL routines and functions.

• Enforce data governance and quality controls.

• Monitor ETL/ELT jobs, troubleshoot problems, and prevent potential issues.

• Enhance system performance through testing, troubleshooting, and integrating new components.

• Ensure data platform solutions comply with confidentiality and privacy standards.

• Collaborate with data scientists, architects, engineers, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Design, model, document, and guide logical and conceptual data and database modifications.

• Document data architecture and systems for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Conduct technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost assessments, and risk analyses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret clearance is required.

• US Citizenship is mandatory.

• A minimum of 10 years of prior experience in data engineering.

• Proficiency in implementing data warehousing concepts and ETL processes and tools, such as Pentaho.

• Experience in developing and administering PostgreSQL databases.

• Strong command of SQL along with experience in other querying languages.

• Experience in decomposing Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures and triggers for migration to Amazon Aurora DB, Postgres, or MySQL.

• Hands-on experience in data modeling, schema design, and database optimization.

• Understanding of data security and compliance best practices.

• Familiarity with GitLab, Liquibase, and CI/CD pipelines is highly preferred.

• Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Debezium, and RabbitMQ.

• Demonstrated experience in network and cyber security design, engineering, and operations, particularly concerning Navy capabilities.

• Previous Navy experience is advantageous.

• Familiarity with cloud data services, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with Cloud Relational Database Services like AWS RDS and Aurora DB.

• Knowledge of SAFe methodologies.

• Experience with data warehousing and Business Intelligence tools such as RedShift, MicroStrategy, and Erwin Data Modeler.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• 8570/8140 - IAT II CompTIA Security+ CE certification is required.

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Engineer, or similar cloud environment certification, Oracle Database Certified Associate, or equivalent database certification; if not held upon applying, must obtain within three months of starting.
