This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the technical vision for the ELT platform over a multi-quarter timeframe.
• Develop design documents for significant projects and set standards for design efforts.
• Decompose vague initiatives into actionable tasks for both senior and junior engineers.
• Collaborate with product teams, leadership, and cross-functional engineering groups to align business objectives with platform strategies.
• Offer architectural insights throughout the codebase and make decisions involving trade-offs across projects.
• Identify systemic risks, scaling limitations, and potential reliability failures, and adjust the roadmap accordingly.
• Provide constructive feedback on pull requests and design documents.
• Mentor and guide senior engineers, establishing growth trajectories for engineers at all levels.
• Set benchmarks for code quality, testing, observability, security, and compliance with HIPAA regarding PHI handling.
• Lead efforts in responding to complex incidents and drive follow-up work to prevent future issues.
• Utilize Claude Code and other AI-enhanced tools, define team practices for AI usage, and refine team workflows.
• Take ownership of and enhance the ELT platform that powers IntusCare’s DataHub product and internal analytics.
• Over 7 years of professional experience in software or data engineering, demonstrating technical leadership with increasing scope.
• Profound knowledge of SQL and Python.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Airflow or a similar orchestrator, dbt or another modern transformation framework, and cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience in resolving scaling issues at the warehouse, data, and infrastructure levels.
• Significant expertise in at least one related domain such as data platform architecture, HIPAA-compliant data handling, or reliability engineering.
• Proven capability to foresee design flaws, edge cases, scaling challenges, and organizational risks.
• A history of managing a technical roadmap, converting business objectives and product requirements into deliverable design documents, and guiding multiple engineers through to delivery.
• A proven track record of mentoring engineers.
• Comfortable working across application boundaries, infrastructure, deployment tools, observability, and incident response.
• Strong judgment in utilizing AI-assisted development and establishing team-wide practices.
• Commitment to rigorous testing protocols.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• A pragmatic approach to long-term investments, technical debt, and delivery.
• Familiarity or experience with HIPAA-compliant management of protected health information.
