This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the implementation of Anthropic’s technical specifications for third-party data center delivery partners, ensuring that design intent is accurately conveyed from the Basis of Design (BOD) through to construction documents.
• Establish the design execution framework, including deliverable requirements, review checkpoints, and quality benchmarks for each partner collaboration.
• Ensure accountability for the quality of partner deliverables at key milestones, assessing outputs for cross-discipline consistency and alignment with Anthropic’s standards.
• Collaborate with external design teams and stakeholders to facilitate the development and issuance of design documents throughout all project phases.
• Manage the design change control process across projects, ensuring that technical decisions are properly documented, resolved, and implemented during construction.
• Review and formulate responses to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), maintaining design intent while adapting to field conditions.
• Maintain technical consistency across design, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases, ensuring alignment between internal leads on standards for phase transitions and acceptance criteria.
• Assist with project closeout and the processes for as-built documentation.
• Facilitate constructability review processes between design and construction teams, identifying integration risks highlighted by discipline leads for resolution, and ensuring alignment between design intent and field execution as conditions change.
• Promote risk identification and mitigation through partner Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
• Direct and oversee external partners and owner representatives conducting site reviews, ensuring that technical reports accurately reflect design compliance and construction progress.
• Engage with internal stakeholders—including construction execution, supply chain, facilities operations, and security—to harmonize design solutions with technical and business goals.
• Collaborate with internal teams to define infrastructure needs and translate them into actionable design criteria for external partners.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements, design optimization, and performance/cost/schedule trade-offs.
• Supervise partner-led commissioning reviews, ensuring that outcomes are documented in accordance with Anthropic's standards.
• A minimum of 10 years managing complex capital/infrastructure programs, including data centers, encompassing both design and delivery phases.
• Experience in managing design execution or technical programs in collaboration with external design/construction firms—backgrounds in design management, owner's engineering, or program management are all relevant.
• A working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and cooling systems sufficient to engage in technical discussions and hold discipline experts accountable.
• Proven experience managing design change processes, RFIs, and construction documentation workflows.
• A track record of coordinating across multiple disciplines and organizations on intricate infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations relevant to mission-critical facilities.
• Ability to operate with authority in uncertain environments where processes must be created rather than merely followed.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license.
• Proficient in Revit/BIM, Autodesk, or similar design software applications.
• Experience incorporating sustainability, energy efficiency, and resiliency goals into data center system designs.
• Direct experience with large-scale AI/HPC infrastructure, including high-density cooling systems and power distribution at a scale of 50+ MW.
• Competitive compensation and benefits
• Optional equity donation matching
• Generous vacation and parental leave
• Flexible working hours
