This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the assessment of the current data architecture and the planning of the target-state architecture.
• Establish data modeling standards, schema design patterns, and integration strategies across both educational and non-educational data domains.
• Assist with the Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse architecture, which includes concepts of medallion architecture, data zone structures, data flow patterns, and environment separation.
• Create or assist in the development of architecture design documents, data flow diagrams, security architecture concepts, integration patterns, and environment topology documentation.
• Facilitate Ed-Fi ODS integration and ensure alignment with enterprise data models.
• Offer technical guidance to data engineers, analysts, and governance resources.
• Generate or assist in creating data dictionaries, metadata catalogs, lineage documentation, and records of architecture decisions.
• Aid in the registration of data products in Microsoft Purview, including ownership metadata, classification information, and applicable sensitivity labeling.
• Identify technical gaps, migration risks, readiness concerns, and dependencies that may impact future implementation task orders.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager and Senior Data Governance Specialist to synchronize architecture, security, governance, and delivery strategies.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must possess an active Secret Clearance.
• Certification as a Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer or Azure Solutions Architect is required.
• Proven experience with medallion architecture and Lakehouse design patterns.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview is required.
• Experience with Ed-Fi or other similar education data standards is essential.
• Background in designing enterprise data architecture for cloud-based or hybrid analytics environments is necessary.
• Excellent skills in documentation, stakeholder communication, and technical leadership are required.
