Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify the underlying root causes of complex data challenges and implement clear, justifiable long-term strategies.

• Architect future data structures that integrate both legacy and contemporary systems.

• Formulate practical migration plans, sequencing, and deployment strategies.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Enterprise Architecture leadership teams.

• Set data architecture standards, review methodologies, and maintain thorough documentation.

• Act as a subject matter expert on enterprise architecture issues where data intersects with product strategy.

• Develop a practical data roadmap complete with detailed tradeoff analyses.

• Minimize data inconsistencies arising from the introduction of new features.

• Foster alignment and trust with engineering and product leadership through data-driven technical decisions and collaborative problem-solving.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Data Architect, generally 8+ years; additional experience preferred for Staff/Principal levels.

• Extensive expertise in target-state architectural design, rather than operational database administration (DBA).

• Strong proficiency in both relational and NoSQL data modeling, schema development, and data governance.

• Solid background in event-driven and streaming architectures, including event buses and message queues.

• Proven success in untangling disorganized, legacy, or poorly schematized environments and transitioning them to modern frameworks.

• Significant experience in designing cloud-native data architectures; AWS experience is highly preferred.

• Experience in defining data retention, lifecycle, backup, and disaster recovery (DR) plans.

• Capacity to communicate technical decisions clearly, support proposals with evidence, adapt to new data, and function effectively in uncertain situations.

• Ability to convey complex proposals in a clear and concise way.

• Preferred experience in Healthcare, EMR/EHR, Health-Tech, or HIPAA-regulated domains.

• Prior experience in establishing a dedicated data/platform architecture function from the ground up is preferred.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
