Data Analyst – Salon Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and uphold embedded Looker dashboards that are directly accessible to salon clients within the Phorest platform, ensuring they are efficient, user-friendly, and dependable.

• Oversee the LookML layer that supports client-facing analytics—creating and maintaining models, explores, views, and derived tables to a high standard.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define, design, and implement new embedded analytics features for clients, from requirements gathering to release.

• Guarantee data precision and consistency across all client-facing dashboards through thorough QA, validation, and monitoring processes.

• Manage and enhance the client analytics experience by identifying opportunities for improvement in dashboard usability, metric clarity, and overall value provided to salon users.

• Maintain and optimize Looker performance, focusing on query efficiency, caching strategies, and managing PDTs at scale.

• Contribute to Looker governance and best practices, which include content organization, permissions management, and documentation.

• Assist with ad hoc requests from internal teams and clients, providing accurate and timely insights.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in data analytics, with substantial hands-on expertise in Looker—this is a specialized Looker role where strong LookML skills are crucial.

• Advanced proficiency in LookML, encompassing models, explores, views, derived tables, and dashboard development.

• Experience with or a strong understanding of embedded analytics—creating data experiences integrated within a product utilized by external customers.

• Strong SQL skills across relational databases (MySQL and/or Redshift preferred).

• A keen eye for data visualization and user experience—understanding that dashboards for end-users must be clear, quick, and reliable.

• Experience in optimizing Looker performance, including PDTs, caching, and query efficiency.

• Highly detail-oriented with a meticulous approach to data accuracy and QA.

• Exceptional communication abilities—able to convey technical constraints and data concepts to non-technical product and client-facing stakeholders.

• Experience in the hair & beauty industry or with SME clients in a vertical SaaS setting (preferred but not mandatory).

• Familiarity with Fivetran, Redshift, or similar data stack components (preferred but not mandatory).

• Python experience for data pipeline or tooling tasks (preferred but not mandatory).
