Data Analyst Advanced – Public Health Data Governance Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the development and continuous operation of data governance and management practices within the Public Health Division.

• Organize, document, curate, and sustain Public Health data assets and metadata in Collibra.

• Promote the adoption and utilization of the data governance tool.

• Ensure that data is accurately documented, comprehended, properly governed, and available for effective usage.

• Collaborate with Business and Data Stewards to collect, document, validate, and maintain both business and technical metadata.

• Manage the data catalog, business glossary, data definitions, and governance documentation.

• Record data ownership, stewardship, classifications, business rules, data quality requirements, and data lineage.

• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in metadata and data documentation.

• Lead governance workgroups and meetings; prepare materials, document decisions, and track follow-up actions.

• Facilitate conversations with business and technical stakeholders to establish a shared understanding of data definitions, ownership, and business rules.

• Assist in the development, documentation, review, and maintenance of data governance standards, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs.

• Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of data governance processes and practices.

• Document data lineage and the relationships between source systems, data warehouse assets, and reporting and analytics products.

• Create and sustain metrics and reports related to metadata completeness, stewardship activities, data quality, and governance adoption.

• Work collaboratively with programs, data engineering, analytics, IT, privacy, security, and other stakeholders to integrate governance practices into data initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or a related field; relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.

• Familiarity with data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data quality practices.

• Strong hands-on experience with Collibra is highly preferred, including training business users and curating and maintaining data assets, metadata, business glossaries, and related governance content.

• Experience with a comparable data governance or data catalog tool may be considered as a substitute for Collibra experience.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Proven experience in building effective relationships with Business and Data Stewards, subject matter experts, and technical stakeholders for gathering, validating, and maintaining business and technical metadata.

• Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, ArcGIS, or similar data and analytics platforms is preferred.

• Experience in developing and maintaining process documentation, standards, procedures, guidelines, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
