This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.
• Take ownership of the target-state solution architecture for D365 CE and D365 F&O, focusing on their integration methods (dual-write, Dataverse, custom integration patterns).
• Develop the architecture for enterprise data migration from legacy systems (Great Plains, D365 F&O, Bright Pearl, MAS 100, MAS 200), which includes source-to-target mapping, data cleansing rules, sequencing, and cutover strategies.
• Serve as the main technical governance authority: review and validate technical design documents, functional specifications, and integration designs prior to the commencement of builds.
• Detect and mitigate architectural risks, technical debt, and design discrepancies identified by the SI, internal team, or business stakeholders.
• Establish the integration architecture for CE, F&O, EDI, and any necessary third-party or middleware systems for the go-live phase.
• Collaborate with business and project teams to convert business requirements into technical and functional design choices.
• Set standards for security role design, environment strategy (DEV/QA/UAT/PROD), extensibility patterns, and governance of code/configuration.
• Manage the 'build vs. configure vs. customize' decision framework, guiding the program towards standard functionalities when possible and rationalizing extensions when essential.
• Facilitate architecture review sessions at critical program milestones (design sign-off, pre-UAT, pre-cutover).
• Outline the data migration validation and reconciliation strategy to ensure accuracy across all five legacy sources after migration.
• Evaluate feasibility and technical risks for scope alterations proposed during the program and provide advice to PMs and leadership accordingly.
• Document the final architecture, integration map, and data lineage for effective long-term support handover to the internal Technical Lead.
• Offer technical escalation support during UAT and cutover, collaborating with the SI and Technical Lead to identify and resolve urgent issues.
• Contribute to and influence the overall technology roadmap as it pertains to the Dynamics ecosystem, including future opportunities in Power Platform, Dataverse Fabric, and AI/automation.
• Mentor internal Business Analysts and the Technical Lead on architectural best practices to enhance long-term internal capabilities.
• Communicate architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs to CIO/ELT-level stakeholders in clear, non-technical business language when necessary.
• A minimum of 10+ years in enterprise systems architecture, with at least 5+ years focused specifically on architecting Dynamics 365 solutions.
• Proven experience in architecting both D365 CE and D365 F&O — not just one of them — and understanding their integration.
• Previous experience leading a multi-source ERP-to-D365 data migration/consolidation; direct exposure to legacy platforms such as Great Plains, Bright Pearl, MAS 90/100/200, or similar mid-market ERPs is highly advantageous.
• A strong track record in architecting greenfield D365 implementations (not solely upgrades or extensions of existing instances).
• In-depth knowledge of Dataverse, dual-write, Power Platform integration patterns, and D365 F&O data structures/extension models.
• Demonstrated experience as the technical counterpart to a Systems Integrator — reviewing SI design artifacts, holding SI teams accountable, and making final architectural decisions.
• Solid understanding of data migration processes: mapping, cleansing, sequencing, reconciliation, and cutover planning at an enterprise level.
• Experience in defining integration architecture that involves EDI and third-party/middleware systems.
• Capable of functioning at both a hands-on design level (data models, integration patterns) and an executive communication level (CIO/ELT presentations).
• Excellent facilitation skills — adept at conducting architecture review and design sign-off sessions with diverse technical and business audiences.
• Prior experience mentoring technical leads or developers and establishing architectural governance standards.
• Experience in a PE-backed or rapidly growing environment where program timelines and board visibility are significant is a plus.
