Cybersecurity Engineer – SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary technical authority for cybersecurity on the contract.

• Offer expert advice to Government leadership regarding cybersecurity strategy, policies, and emerging threats.

• Oversee cybersecurity engineering initiatives that support enterprise systems and applications.

• Counsel program managers on security architecture, system design, and implementation.

• Assess and analyze cybersecurity risks linked to new technologies and system modifications.

• Spearhead the creation and execution of cybersecurity best practices.

• Facilitate enterprise cyber modernization efforts.

• Perform technical reviews of security architectures, designs, and implementation strategies.

• Suggest corrective measures to enhance the overall cybersecurity stance.

• Direct cybersecurity assessments, audits, and technical evaluations.

• Deliver subject matter expertise during inspections and compliance assessments.

• Assist with ATO, continuous authorization, and RMF activities.

• Formulate risk mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.

• Coordinate cybersecurity efforts across various functional teams.

• Mentor less experienced cybersecurity engineers and analysts.

• Review contractor deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.

• Engage in technical interchange meetings with Government stakeholders.

• Aid in incident response planning and analysis of cyber events.

• Provide technical insights for vulnerability management activities.

• Assess emerging cybersecurity technologies and propose implementation strategies.

• Create technical white papers, executive briefings, and cybersecurity recommendations.

• Contribute to strategic planning efforts related to cyber defense.

• Ensure cybersecurity initiatives align with DoD Zero Trust principles where applicable.

• Offer cybersecurity support for cloud migration and hybrid environments.

• Stay informed about evolving DoD cybersecurity directives and policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST A&A.

• Experience in DoD cybersecurity.

• Proven track record in assessing security controls and conducting authorization reviews for large, complex organizations.

• Background in supporting the DoD authorization process, cybersecurity policies, procedures, and protocols.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity concerns for emerging technologies, including Cloud, Industrial Control Systems (ICSs), warehouse execution systems, and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructures.

• Possession of a DoD Secret Clearance.

• IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) at the time of proposal submission.
