Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization, Subject Matter Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Act as the cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Assessment and Authorization (A&A) initiatives, ensuring adherence to DoD and NIST standards.

• Execute Risk Management Framework (RMF) procedures for systems in the authorization phase, which includes control assessments, documentation evaluations, and risk assessments.

• Leverage an expert understanding of NIST SP 800‑53 security controls and their application to extensive, intricate IT infrastructures comprising multiple enclaves, applications, and outsourced services.

• Detect vulnerabilities, assess their severity, and evaluate the potential effects on system authorization status.

• Carry out thorough authorization evaluations for enterprise-level systems and environments.

• Provide updates to senior leadership regarding RMF progress, insights, risks, and suggested action plans.

• Assist in the creation, execution, and enhancement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and practices that align with DoD standards.

• Utilize cybersecurity knowledge in relation to emerging technologies such as cloud services, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), warehouse execution systems, and Operational Technology (OT).

• Assess and implement cybersecurity controls for contemporary computing settings including hybrid cloud, edge computing, and IoT-related frameworks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess an active Secret clearance.

• A minimum of five (5) years of pertinent experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST Assessment & Authorization (A&A).

• Experience in DoD cybersecurity supporting enterprise-level systems.

• Proven experience in evaluating security controls and conducting authorization reviews for large, complex organizations.

• Strong comprehension of DoD cybersecurity policies, procedures, and the DoD authorization protocol.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations pertaining to emerging technologies, including Cloud, ICS, OT, and related systems.
