Customs Import Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Supervise the importation process either directly or via direct reports.

• Ensure adherence to U.S. and international laws and regulations.

• Assist customers in navigating customs requirements and procedures.

• Prepare and submit necessary customs documentation.

• Assess tariff and duty payments.

• Monitor shipments and classify them using the tariff coding system.

• Ensure that all required government forms and information are compliant and properly provided.

• Effectively resolve customer issues with accuracy and professionalism.

• Aid importers and exporters in understanding and complying with federal trade regulations.

• Collaborate with the sales team to pursue new leads and promote company services to existing clients.

• Partner with Operations and Customs to address any issues.

• Operate the office in the manager's absence unless the district manager is present.

• Provide guidance to direct reports, delegate tasks, and review work for accuracy and compliance with policies.

• Proactively address performance issues or complaints.

• Support subordinates with departmental tasks.

• Stay updated on changes in customs and Deringer procedures.

• Export audit reports and assign them to regional staff.

• Manage outstanding and aging audits, communicate their status, and offer guidance.

• Cover CHB operations when regional staffing needs arise.

• Conduct Relationship Reviews with Key Account Managers and Sales.

• Assist with regional cross-training and development initiatives.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

• Prior supervisory or managerial experience.

• Experience in training others.

• Familiarity with the shipment clearance process.

• Experience with data entry.

• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.

• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) preferred.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
