• The Customs Tariff Mitigation Lead is a professional in Global Trade Compliance with extensive knowledge of U.S. and international customs regulations, duty mitigation initiatives, and import compliance obligations.
• This position acts as the subject matter expert and primary contact for duty mitigation projects, tariff impact assessments, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) management, and post-entry processes throughout the Avionics Strategic Business Unit (SBU).
• The individual will provide guidance to leadership on intricate compliance issues, assist with new regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance with all relevant import and export laws.
• Oversee the complete qualification and compliance process for Free Trade Agreements, focusing on USMCA.
• Direct initiatives related to FTZs, Customs Warehousing, Temporary Import Bonds, and various duty mitigation and special trade programs.
• Examine trade compliance documentation to confirm compliance with U.S. and international regulations.
• Counsel leadership and internal teams on the implementation of complex compliance programs.
• Lead the preparation of responses to government and regulatory inquiries, including CF28 and CF29 notices.
• Track and communicate the effects of new regulations and geopolitical changes (Section tariffs, ADD/CVD, PGA requirements, etc.).
• Create and present training sessions on customs compliance, duty mitigation, and import/export regulations.
• Generally requires a University Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience.
• 5–8+ years of experience in customs compliance, import regulations, or duty mitigation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, valuation, FTAs, drawback, and post-entry procedures.
• Proven expertise in import/export compliance management and regulatory interpretation.
• Experience in developing or managing compliance programs, conducting audits, and implementing internal controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Trade Compliance, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities and familiarity with customs data systems and ERP trade modules.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing sectors.
• Understanding of Avionics operational frameworks, supply chain processes, and MRO logistics.
• Familiarity with duty mitigation strategies such as 9801/9802, TIBs, Duty-Free Entry (Military), Civil Aircraft Exemption, Bonded Warehouse, and FTZs.
• Licensed Customs Broker is preferred but not mandatory.
