This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Acquire and develop proficiency in Airflow, data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.
• Address complex Apache Airflow challenges for clients, including configuration enhancements and bug identification.
• Dedicate up to 20% of your time to side projects that contribute to Astronomer’s success, such as open-source Airflow initiatives and internal monitoring and alerting systems.
• Engage with Astronomer’s advanced, cloud-native managed Airflow product.
• Collaborate directly with customers’ data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management.
• Provide insights that can influence the future direction of the Airflow project.
• Manage the customer experience by prioritizing and resolving issues, adhering to SLAs, and offering exceptional production guidance.
• Work remotely within a fully distributed team environment.
• Assist in maintaining 24x7 coverage during a designated 6-hour pager period throughout the workday.
• Engage in a paid on-call rotation for weekend support.
• Gain exposure to product management, engineering, customer relationship management, and related fields.
• Background in Data Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with Python.
• At least 1 year of experience in Airflow administration and DAG development.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and Containers.
• Experience with distributed systems across any major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and with autonomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with customers via the ticketing system and Zoom.
• Experience in mentoring junior team members.
• Contributions to open-source projects (preferred).
• Customer Support experience (preferred).
• Understanding of SQL and PostgreSQL (preferred).
• Experience with data engineering tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar (preferred).
• Authorization to work in the United States is required in the application form.
• Willingness to participate in a mandatory in-person interview.
• Capability to help maintain 24x7 coverage during a specified 6-hour pager period within the workday.
