This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of the CIS Solution Blueprint, including customer data model, SA structure, rate design, billing cycle, meter-to-cash workflow, and collections/dunning.
• Establish the architecture for bill calculation, incorporating billing determinants, proration rules, budget billing algorithms, estimation logic, and exception handling.
• Facilitate Fit-Gap workshops involving Customer Ops, Revenue Management, Metering, IT, and Regulatory Affairs.
• Oversee configuration standards and conduct peer reviews of configuration workbooks and functional design documents.
• Convert regulatory tariff schedules (TOU, tiered rates, demand charges, NEM 3.0, CARE/FERA, budget billing) into practical rate configurations.
• Create test scripts for billing cycles, SIT, and UAT; spearhead bill calculation regression testing across rate schedule portfolios.
• Develop AMI/MDM integration, focusing on interval data ingestion, VEE triggers, register reconciliation, and connect/disconnect dispatch.
• Determine the cutover data load sequence and establish reconciliation controls to balance with legacy system totals.
• Design CIS integrations with OMS, GIS, IVR, customer portal, payment processing, and ERP/GL financial postings.
• Lead a team of 4–10 CIS functional consultants and integration specialists through design, build, test, and deployment phases.
• Manage the customer data migration strategy from legacy CIS, encompassing master data, billing/payment history, and open AR balance cutover.
• Create role-based training and generate knowledge transfer materials for customer service representatives, billing analysts, and metering staff.
• Assist in CIS business development and capture initiatives.
• A Bachelor's degree with a MINIMUM of TEN (10) years of experience in CIS consulting or utility technology, and at least FIVE (5) years in CIS solution architecture or functional delivery leadership.
• Experience with SAP CIS is highly preferred.
• Proven leadership in CIS data migration, including customer master, billing history, and open AR balance migration from legacy systems.
• At least TWO (2) complete lifecycle CIS implementations at electric, gas, or water utilities in the role of lead architect or functional lead.
• Experience in CIS integration architecture with at least 2 of the following: MDM, AMI head-end, OMS, customer portal, IVR, or ERP/GL.
• Hands-on configuration experience with SAP IS-U / S/4HANA Utilities or Oracle CC&B / CCS (C2M) — deep expertise in at least one platform is required.
• Extensive knowledge of the utility meter-to-cash process: read acquisition → VEE → bill calculation → invoice → payment → collections → write-off.
• Direct experience in designing complex utility rate structures such as TOU, NEM, demand charges, budget billing, and income-qualified program rates.
• SAP Certified Associate – SAP for Utilities (IS-U) or S/4HANA Utilities certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with legacy source CIS platforms such as Cayenta, Infor Hansen, Cogsdale, Banner, or custom mainframe billing systems is a plus.
• Oracle Utilities Implementation Specialist (CC&B or C2M) certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of Salesforce Energy & Utilities Cloud as a CRM layer integrated with SAP or Oracle CIS backends is a plus.
• Experience with dual-platform (SAP + Oracle) systems is a significant advantage for migration programs.
• Knowledge of EV charging program billing, NEM 3.0, prepay metering, or community solar subscriber management is a plus.
• Familiarity with SAP BRIM / Convergent Invoicing for multi-commodity or subscription billing is a plus.
• Understanding of PCI-DSS and customer PII/data security compliance requirements in utility CIS environments is a plus.
• Experience with Oracle C2M cloud deployment (OCI SaaS) configuration is a plus.
• Awareness of NERC CIP / NIST CSF for CIS systems within or adjacent to the utility control network is a plus.
