This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Conduct research on environmental elements identified during project assessments and identify environmental issues along with necessary mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with federal and state agencies to secure environmental permitting approvals for construction projects.
• Assist with state and local land use and environmental permitting processes, including conditional/special use permits and certificates of environmental compatibility.
• Offer support for project compliance or fieldwork activities.
• Oversee budgets and project milestones.
• Aid in the development of proposals or scopes of work.
• Facilitate survey activities between third-party consultants and federal agencies as needed.
• Assist with telecom Section 106 tasks, which include researching, preparing, and submitting cultural resource reports to State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs), municipalities, and other regulatory bodies for clients in Alaska, California, and Oregon.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a related discipline; OR 30 credit hours in archaeology along with relevant field experience is required.
• 5 to 10 years of proven experience in environmental agency permitting.
• Familiarity with federal grant-related environmental regulations, such as the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and Section 106 compliance.
• Experience working with federal, state, and/or local agencies on matters related to environmental permitting or cultural resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including proficiency in drafting agency correspondence, environmental and cultural resource documentation, and project reports.
• Competence in using Google Earth, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Excel, and Word.
• Capability to effectively manage multiple projects and adapt to changing requirements.
• Preference for candidates with experience working with federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and/or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS).
• Preference for candidates with experience supporting telecommunications, fiber optic, or other linear infrastructure initiatives.
• Preference for candidates who have coordinated with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs), state archaeological agencies, municipalities, and other permitting entities.
