CTO / VP Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the stability of a system where millions of users post simultaneously within a two-minute window every day.

• Manage 12 squads across three codebases, focusing on release discipline, feature flags, platform, and developer experience.

• Oversee infrastructure costs as a P&L line, including GCP, Cloud Spanner, and large-scale media delivery.

• Successfully complete the migration from Node.js to Go without impacting delivery timelines.

• Recruit outstanding engineers, nurture their development, and maintain high standards.

• Collaborate with the CEO and product leadership to establish the technical strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years in engineering, with at least 6 years in leadership roles within organizations of 80–200+ engineers.

• Proven experience in scaling a high-traffic consumer product or an equivalent high-throughput infrastructure.

• Possess architect-level expertise, capable of engaging with staff engineers on distributed-systems trade-offs without the need for a coding test.

• Experience in building regression-prevention systems for multiple teams working in parallel.

• Ability to lead distributed teams through effective written communication, metrics, and swift asynchronous decision-making.

• Preferred experience includes consumer social, camera or media products, and native mobile organizations.
