CTO – Co-founder, Hands-on Rust, Startup Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Define and guide the long-term technical architecture of the platform.

• Lead the strategy for backend architecture and infrastructure utilizing Rust-based systems.

• Assist in constructing scalable systems that support feeds, messaging, live updates, video, and data infrastructure.

• Supervise the engineering direction across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and product systems.

• Collaborate closely with leadership on product and company strategy.

• Establish the engineering culture, hiring standards, and processes for technical execution.

• Work in partnership with engineers on architecture reviews, trade-offs, and implementation decisions.

• Contribute to the design of future financial infrastructure including rewards, wallets, payments, and crypto-related systems.

• Support AI-driven systems such as translation, recommendation, search, and football history infrastructure.

• Ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and security across all systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–15+ years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership, preferably within startups or high-growth consumer technology platforms.

• Strong hands-on engineering experience with active participation in architecture, systems design, and production codebases.

• Extensive experience in building and scaling modern consumer platforms that involve real-time systems, high concurrency, and large-scale user engagement.

• Proficient in production Rust with a focus on developing asynchronous backend systems and distributed infrastructure.

• In-depth knowledge of backend architecture, APIs, event-driven systems, databases, caching, and scalable infrastructure design.

• Experience in building or managing one or more of the following:

• Social feeds and microblogging systems.

• Messaging or real-time communication platforms.

• TikTok-style video or media infrastructure.

• Financial, wallet, fintech, or gambling infrastructure.

• AI-powered consumer products.

• Large-scale SEO or content infrastructure.

• Ability to make pragmatic technical trade-offs that balance scalability, performance, speed, maintainability, and operational simplicity.

• Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams while remaining deeply technical and engaged.

• Comfortable working in dynamic startup environments with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited processes.

• Strong communication skills to clearly explain architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Possess strong entrepreneurial judgment, a sense of ownership, and a focus on execution.
