This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the implementation of data center control and monitoring systems during the construction and commissioning phases (L1-L5) under the supervision of senior controls staff.
• Aid in the validation and documentation of controls and monitoring systems, ensuring that performance deliverables are complete, accurate, and suitable for transfer to Operations.
• Offer technical support related to building operations, mechanical and electrical plant controls, BMS/EPMS systems, and relevant field devices.
• Conduct point-to-point verification, software logic assessments, and graphics testing to confirm functionality, compatibility, and adherence to design specifications.
• Collaborate with Operations Engineering to evaluate QA/QC activities, hardware installations, control panels, wiring, and programming modifications identified during commissioning.
• Engage in commissioning tests to verify control settings, alarm thresholds, system integrations, and the basic functionality of infrastructure systems.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving controls-related operational challenges, including Loss of Visibility (LOV), Loss of Resilience (LOR), and other incidents affecting operations, in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Work alongside Operations, Development, Operations Engineering, and vendor teams to identify defects, document observations, and support corrective measures.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives by recognizing recurring issues, documenting lessons learned, and recommending enhancements to control systems or processes.
• In partnership with Operations Engineering, ensure the maintenance of precise and timely documentation, including test outcomes, commissioning records, as-built modifications, and operational reference materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field; relevant industry or military experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
• At least 5 years of experience in supporting controls engineering activities, encompassing system installation, testing, start-up, commissioning, or operations within industrial or critical environments.
• Familiarity with control system integration involving various vendors, subsystems, and field devices.
• Understanding of control theory fundamentals, including proportional-integral-derivative (PID) concepts.
• Knowledge of PLC or SCADA-based control systems and standard industrial programming environments.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering documentation, including electrical one-line diagrams, control diagrams, network schematics, and control panel drawings.
• Experience in supporting data centers or other mission-critical facilities, like hospitals, laboratories, defense facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or oil and gas operations.
• Practical experience with the installation, service, or field support of electrical or mechanical control systems.
• Acquainted with commissioning processes, testing procedures, and basic safety and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in operational support roles with BMS, EPMS, or industrial automation platforms.
• Ability to generate clear, consistent technical documentation, test reports, and operational reference materials.
• General knowledge of critical data center equipment, including generators, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, chillers, air handling units (AHU, CRAH, CRAC), fire detection and suppression systems, and related controls.
