Crisis Intervention Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Deliver crisis and suicide intervention counseling via telephone to individuals requiring emergency or crisis support.

• Assess and recommend suitable organizations and service providers to address the needs of callers.

• Track and evaluate callers' circumstances through ongoing case follow-up.

• Accurately document and maintain comprehensive records of telephone interventions throughout the work shift.

• Review daily log sheets and client records to ensure precise information recording and upkeep.

• Oversee and evaluate telephone counselors and volunteers to guarantee accurate, high-quality crisis support and documentation.

• Provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention training and consultation to counselors, volunteers, service providers, and community organizations.

• Attend and engage in staff and team meetings, sharing insights about counselor procedures and available services.

• Deliver crisis intervention to community groups affected by suicide as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field; or a high school diploma/GED with completion of AAS/Life Line 50 hours of Crisis Intervention/Suicide Prevention training, accompanied by six months of volunteer experience with Seven Counties Services following training completion.

• At least six months of experience in social services.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Familiarity with available community resources.

• Capability to make sound decisions and judgments in high-pressure or unusual situations.

• Effective supervisory skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.

• No significant physical demands; may encounter moderately unpleasant situations, such as inappropriate language from callers.
