Credit Manager – Area

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead the credit function and engage in collaboration and negotiations with leaders at all levels.

• Administer and execute credit policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Oversee credit risk investigations, approve credit terms and limit extensions, and manage complex larger accounts.

• Manage an Accounts Receivable portfolio encompassing 5,000 customers and generating $50MM in annual revenue.

• Act as the primary Credit liaison for the Area President and their team.

• Collaborate with an offshore management partner to supervise process reviews, inquiries, and provide guidance.

• Participate in monthly performance evaluations and conduct formal performance appraisals.

• Ensure the delivery of training protocols and standardized shared-services processes.

• Coach members of the credit leadership team and nurture talent development.

• Establish and assess both quantitative and qualitative expectations.

• Meet with Territory Managers and Area teams to discuss credit expectations.

• Attend District and General Sales meetings to foster collaborative networks.

• Address escalations in accordance with established matrices and best practices.

• Manage all aspects of collections and authorize credit applications within policy limits.

• Coach underperforming associates and implement Process Improvement Plans as necessary.

• Oversee Supervisor functions and onboarding processes.

• Standardize credit processes and utilize automation to enhance workflow efficiency and quality.

• Deliver technology- and process-oriented projects aligned with the strategic roadmap.

• Conduct role effectiveness reviews and manage internal/external customer surveys.

• Research and analyze data to identify trends and issues, and formulate recommendations.

• Drive operational efficiencies through quality performance, training initiatives, and associate scheduling.

• Build, monitor, and share standard KPIs.

• Participate in annual budgeting processes and promote financial fitness.

• Define talent strategy encompassing hiring, performance management, and succession planning.

• Develop technology roadmaps and benchmarking initiatives.

• Create and present business cases that include budgets, resources, and ROI.

• Maintain an Individual Development Plan and engage in US Foods' performance management processes.

• Lead a team of up to 18 associates, which includes 1–3 direct reports and 15 Managed Services associates.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in supervising and leading both onsite and remote associates is required.

• At least 5 years’ experience in Finance or Credit/Collections is required.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience utilizing web-based and mainframe systems is required.

• Experience in facilitating presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven experience in developing, tracking, and using KPIs to identify process improvements.

• Intermediate skills in MS Office are required.

• Highly proficient in Excel, including skills in pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

• Proficient in using web-based and mainframe systems; familiarity with Data Warehouse databases, SharePoint, and Salesforce is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills.

• Excellent negotiation and persuasion techniques.

• Capable of critical thinking and resolving complex problems.

• Ability to analyze data and situations to draw suitable conclusions.

• Competence in managing the credit function across multiple Areas.

• Ability to build collaborative networks and share best practices effectively.

• Strong emotional intelligence.

• Ability to provide thoughtful leadership to internal customers while engaging with external customers.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Credit Business Associate (CBA) Certification is preferred.

• Experience in food service or a similar distribution environment is desirable.
