This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and execute long-term strategies for community development credit and investment across the Bank’s Assessment Areas.
• Evaluate CRA credit and investment opportunities that align with CRA/Community Development and the strategic objectives of the Bank.
• Underwrite, structure, document, and oversee the underwriting and due diligence for eligible CRA investments, including LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, SBIC, and others.
• Balance strategic objectives, community impact, profitability, policy, and risk considerations.
• Serve as the internal advocate for CRA within the organization, collaborating with internal business line partners and external investors, developers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Formulate and implement strategies in partnership with senior leadership and community development stakeholders to enhance community development lending and investments.
• Collaborate with business lines and regional/community leadership to identify local needs and opportunities for community development.
• Assist local leadership in identifying investment opportunities and resources necessary for new community development loans and initiatives.
• Lead and support efforts to advocate for new commercial and mortgage-related community development loans and investments.
• Conduct or assist in commercial and community development credit underwriting, analyzing financial statements, cash flow, collateral, repayment sources, global debt capacity, and associated risk factors.
• Evaluate, structure, and recommend community development loans and investments in line with CRA objectives, credit policy, and risk appetite.
• Perform due diligence on LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, loan funds, CDFI-related credit extensions, and securitized investments.
• Prepare or contribute to credit memos, investment summaries, approval packages, and materials for portfolio monitoring.
• Collaborate with Credit, Finance, Risk, CRA Investment Working Group, Community Development Officers, and business line leaders.
• Monitor the performance, compliance with covenants, and impact/results of community development credit and investments.
• Identify and mitigate transaction, credit, operational, compliance, and strategic risks.
• Analyze data and prepare risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, planning, networking, and volunteer activities.
• Present opportunities to promote growth in Community Development Loans and Investments while fostering meaningful, long-lasting relationships.
• Take ownership of responsibilities and challenges within the designated role.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in CRA/Community Development finance, commercial credit, underwriting, lending, and/or community development investments.
• Proven experience in evaluating community development loans, tax credit investments, structured finance, or securitized investment products.
• Experience in collaborating with credit/risk/legal/compliance/business line stakeholders during transaction execution.
• Background in commercial credit analysis and underwriting for non-profit and community development financing structures.
• Proficiency in financial statement analysis and cash flow assessment, credit risk evaluation, and risk rating concepts.
• Experience in structuring and conducting due diligence for complex community development lending facilities such as LIHTC, NMTC, EQ2, and others.
• Knowledge of securitized community development investment vehicles and the associated risk considerations.
• Ability to perform due diligence on securitized community development investments.
• Skill in synthesizing financial, community impact, and regulatory factors into recommendations for business lines and leadership.
• Strong understanding of the Community Reinvestment Act and Fair Lending Laws and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of preparing reports and presentations.
• Willingness to collaborate, work across various business lines, adapt to change, pivot, and exercise discretion.
• Ability to efficiently manage workflow and assignments while prioritizing tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Capability to work effectively with diverse workgroups and team-oriented activities.
• Expertise in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Demonstrated success in quantifying community development impact and utilizing data to craft compelling narratives.
• Deep commitment to the Bank’s Core Values and an understanding of the significance of storytelling.
• Proficiency in communicating in person, via phone, and through electronic channels.
• Ability to frequently use a computer, which includes typing and maintaining extended focus on a monitor.
• Capability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods, as well as bend and reach.
