Country Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take charge of Coinbase's business performance in India, with a direct responsibility for user expansion, revenue generation, and establishing a sustainable market presence, which includes identifying and fostering relationships with potential commercial partners and key stakeholders.

• Formulate the country's strategy by consolidating market, regulatory, and competitive insights into impactful growth opportunities and converting them into actionable plans.

• Spearhead cross-functional initiatives in collaboration with Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Policy to implement India-specific projects while overseeing regulatory risk and compliance obligations.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to develop and launch locally relevant products that achieve product-market alignment within India's regulatory framework.

• Influence Coinbase's regulatory and policy stance in India by directly engaging with regulators, industry bodies, and policy stakeholders to facilitate new product launches and ensure compliance.

• Build and nurture a high-performing local team while acting as Coinbase's senior representative in India across regulators, partners, media, and industry forums.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior leadership experience (CEO, COO, GM, Country Head, or Founder) in scaling a platform, e-commerce, fintech, or trading business in India, demonstrating a measurable impact on revenue and active user growth over at least 5 years.

• Direct experience interacting with Indian financial regulators and policy stakeholders, showcasing successful outcomes that balance constructive relationships with commercial objectives.

• Proven history of partnering with Product, Marketing, and Business Development teams to build, launch, and scale products in regulated environments, including navigating licensing, compliance, and risk frameworks.

• In-depth knowledge of India's regulated financial services ecosystem, including the operations of institutions within Compliance, Risk, Finance, Treasury, Audit, and third-party oversight functions.

• Demonstrated capability to lead in a remote-first, globally matrixed organization, aligning local execution with global standards while advocating for market-specific requirements at the executive level.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI, ensuring human oversight to produce business-ready outputs and drive measurable enhancements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
