Counsel, Regulatory & Litigation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer legal support and counsel on regulatory and litigation issues pertaining to MRO Corporation and its subsidiaries.

• Report directly to the Deputy General Counsel while assisting the Chief Legal Officer.

• Provide insights on legal frameworks, regulations, and regulatory updates relevant to the healthcare sector.

• Evaluate current and newly implemented healthcare and privacy regulations.

• Review and draft regulatory summaries that transform complex information into practical guidance for the HIM industry.

• Promote awareness of privacy and security policies and regulations, including the creation of company-wide training programs.

• Oversee litigation matters by coordinating with external counsel, tracking case strategies, and supporting discovery and document preservation requirements.

• Evaluate and prioritize incoming disputes, research applicable laws, and devise suitable resolution strategies.

• Draft memoranda, position papers, demand letters, and responses to third parties.

• Assist with various legal issues and projects in support of the legal department.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Admitted to practice law by the bar in at least one state.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a multi-client law firm, health insurance company, hospital, or a similar organization.

• Comprehensive understanding of healthcare law.

• Required litigation experience.

• Preferred experience with HIPAA, health information management, or privacy law.

• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to engage with all levels of management.

• Strong organizational capabilities.

• Capacity to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Skill in prioritizing responsibilities, taking initiative, and self-managing work and time.
