This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee escalated notice and takedown situations concerning user-generated content on the Airbnb platform; proactively mitigate risks, identify trends and opportunities for workflow enhancements, and support the team through quality assurance, training, and process improvement.
• Manage the ongoing prosecution and maintenance of global trademark, domain name, and copyright portfolios for Airbnb, HotelTonight, and other acquired brands.
• Handle a caseload of trademark enforcement and intellectual property dispute issues, including direct communication with third parties misusing our trademarks and negotiating resolutions for trademark conflicts.
• Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding the legal risks and feasibility of proposed trademarks and domain names, including conducting trademark searches and advising on usage and registration matters.
• Collaborate with a dynamic, high-performing team on intellectual property strategy and program management.
• Proactively oversee and audit trademark and domain name portfolios, working with internal partners to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Consult and collaborate with marketing, product, and commercial legal counsel on trademark, copyright, and publicity rights matters.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and a minimum of five (5) years of legal experience, including significant expertise in trademark, copyright, domain name, and brand protection counseling (relevant in-house experience with leading global technology companies is advantageous).
• Strong working knowledge of the Airbnb platform, its evolving product lines, and the competitive landscape.
• Familiarity with intellectual property platform liability issues, the DMCA, and the DSA, whether in a litigation or advisory capacity.
• Proven ability to implement trademark, copyright, domain name, and brand protection strategies and workflows, as well as to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Experience providing advice on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement for a global enterprise.
• A collaborative team player with outstanding communication and listening abilities.
• Proven capacity to deliver timely, accurate, comprehensive, and concise legal analyses.
• Ability to develop realistic assessments of legal risks and provide clear, practical, and business-oriented advice.
• Demonstrated capability to exceed expectations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, including multitasking and effective prioritization.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, and a desire for personal growth.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Member of a state bar in good standing.
