This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a substantial number of commercial and government contracts, encompassing master services agreements, statements of work, subcontract agreements, NDAs, and vendor agreements.
• Provide legal guidance on government contracting stipulations, including federal and state healthcare program operations, while advising on risks related to contract terms, pricing structures, and performance obligations.
• Collaborate with business teams to structure transactions that comply with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements, balancing risk with business goals.
• Support the entire lifecycle of government contracts, including review, negotiation, execution, compliance, reporting, and closeout activities.
• Advise internal stakeholders on pertinent federal and state regulatory mandates affecting healthcare, data usage, reimbursement, privacy, and participation in government programs.
• Monitor legal and regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on the business; aid in the implementation of new requirements through guidance, documentation, and collaboration with compliance teams.
• Address regulatory inquiries, audits, and customer/legal escalations, including providing supporting documentation, conducting investigations, and formulating responses.
• Work collaboratively across functions to ensure that contractual obligations and regulatory requirements are understood and operationalized.
• Deliver training and guidance to business teams on contracting practices, regulatory requirements, and strategies for risk mitigation.
• Engage with external parties including client counsel, government representatives, and outside counsel as necessary to negotiate agreements and resolve issues.
• Create templates, playbooks, and internal guidance to enhance efficiency and consistency in contracting and regulatory compliance.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership.
• 5-7 years of experience acquired in a large law firm, in-house context, or for a governmental entity.
• Strong experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements is essential.
• Preferred experience with government contracting and/or contracting within the healthcare sector.
• Familiarity with navigating complex healthcare regulations and statutes.
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, coupled with analytical abilities to convert legal concepts into actionable advice for business leaders clearly and concisely.
• Capability to establish and maintain robust relationships within the organization’s legal and compliance department and across all business units.
• Aptitude to work independently with minimal supervision and to be accessible and responsive to legal and compliance team members and business units in a remote work environment.
• Detail-oriented with the capacity to proactively analyze, problem-solve, organize, and manage multiple priorities, as well as demonstrate excellent follow-up skills in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to meet and manage deadlines effectively.
