This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide worldwide leadership and technical guidance in process safety to enhance enduring safety performance.
• Develop and improve process safety standards, training programs, tools, communications, and audit requirements.
• Oversee the implementation of process safety expectations concerning emergency preparedness, hot work, mechanical integrity, and management of change.
• Lead and advise on process safety and hazard assessment reviews, including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), reactive chemical scenarios, and management of change requests.
• Review and support HAZOP, LOPA, and other strategies for process safety assessments.
• Guide the application of process safety technologies to mitigate risks in collaboration with manufacturing technology leaders and CAPEX project teams.
• Lead incident investigations and analyze root causes for process safety incidents and near misses.
• Amplify incident learnings across relevant facilities.
• Lead or participate in global process safety audits.
• Co-lead internal process safety networks and mentor global process safety subject-matter experts.
• Facilitate new leader Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reviews to ensure operations, engineering, and site resources comprehend risks and responsibilities.
• Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), operations, engineering, Research & Development (R&D), legal affairs, occupational medicine, and external stakeholders.
• Engage in external benchmarking and participate in trade associations.
• Adhere to corporate policies, procedures, and security standards.
• Contribute to 3M’s Environmental Health and Safety culture by following safety protocols, identifying hazards, and promoting continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science field, completed and verified prior to employment commencement.
• A minimum of five (5) years of process safety experience in a private, public, government, or military setting.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the country of employment without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
• Proficiency in hazard assessment tools and programs that manage risks associated with fires, explosions, and chemical releases.
• Comprehensive understanding of process technology and associated hazards.
• Familiarity with global, regional, and/or state process safety regulations and risk mitigation strategies for manufacturing sites.
• Capability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
• Strong communication skills; multilingual proficiency is advantageous.
• Ability to write clearly and document data succinctly.
• Skill in multitasking and managing activities and priorities within cross-functional teams.
• Robust project management abilities.
• Previous experience in process engineering, design engineering, or manufacturing is beneficial.
• Practical knowledge and experience in one or more EHS disciplines, such as worker safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental compliance.
• A Master’s degree or higher in an engineering, science, or EHS-related field is a valuable additional qualification.
• Certifications such as CCPSC, PE, CSP, or related EHS credentials are considered additional qualifications.
