Corporate Counsel – Privacy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, analyze, and offer legal advice to business units on intricate legal and compliance issues related to the Company's operations, products, and strategic initiatives, particularly focusing on privacy, data security, and the governance of artificial intelligence, primarily within the U.S. and internationally as relevant.

• Deliver legal counsel and guidance concerning complex transactions involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers, including professional services agreements, licenses, and various strategic sourcing agreements.

• Support legal review and risk mitigation strategies regarding all aspects of client interactions, encompassing consumer disclosures, privacy notices, terms and conditions, identity verification and authentication, e-signatures, marketing, privacy and data usage, and customer service.

• Collaborate closely with the Deputy General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer, Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, and key business partners to provide high-level legal support across various initiatives.

• Keep abreast of evolving laws that may impact the business and assist in designing and implementing compliant solutions, particularly in privacy, data security, and artificial intelligence.

• Act as a legal subject matter expert in matters concerning privacy and data security, artificial intelligence, marketing, and strategic sourcing transactions.

• Contribute to team efforts by consistently meeting commitments and collaborating effectively with minimal supervision.

• Occasionally assist with a variety of high-demand legal projects outside the normal scope of focus.

• Manage outside counsel within budget constraints.

• Some domestic or international travel may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree along with a license to practice law in one or more states.

• Current membership in the Missouri Bar or the capability to become a member within six months.

• A minimum of five years of legal experience at a large law firm, corporate legal department, or a similar setting.

• Detail-oriented focus, showcasing analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

• Proficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the capacity to communicate effectively and persuade diverse audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with clients, peers, and external partners, providing thoughtful, customer-focused legal guidance that aligns with business objectives.

• Capability to plan and manage multiple projects and work initiatives concurrently.

• Strong business acumen with a willingness to partner with internal business colleagues to address business issues, including a nuanced ability to assess and mitigate risks.

• A positive attitude, collegial approach, and a proactive instinct to exceed expectations to achieve optimal outcomes for the Company.
